From small beginnings, Erie Gay News started in 1992 to provide a resource to reflect the faces of the Northwest PA region in the broader LGBQTIA+ community. EGN kicked off as a print only publication and soon after in the mid-1990sy became a hybrid news source and launched the ErieGayNews.com website in 1998, which allows for current news to be reviewed online between print editions of the EGN.
Each year the EGN is sent to a half-dozen archives at various places around the world to assure that the documenting experiences in our area continue on for future generations. Your involvement in the Erie Gay News Community can help us continue our work in recording the lives of our rainbow family for folks near and far learn from and about all of us.
November 2025, EGN Editor-in-Chief Michael Mahler drops off annual hard copies of the newsletter for International Archives in Toronto Canada and Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
