Over the past three plus decades of Erie Gay News, various events and groups have worked to help improve the lives of our community members. In recent years, these outreach efforts have been needed more than before. Erie Gay News is partnering with other area organizations to develop events that bring together various members of the rainbow family. While the EGN keeps folks informed of what’s going on, we decided to create our Nonprofit to establish a way to support and uplift our chosen family and beyond. At the end of January 2026, Erie’s queer community had a successful outpouring of support, volunteers, and donations for the Winter Coat and Boot Drive.
“It was incredible to see how many people showed up, not only with donations, but with their time and energy,” organizers shared. “This drive has always been about more than coats. It’s about community, solidarity, and taking care of one another.” Erie Gay News non profit was established to continue the legacy of developing more events like this in the months and years to come.
